Backing up your blog is one of those things that everyone should do every day. However, it’s good to have an automated system, and we’ve shared how to back up WordPress.
Today, we’re expanding on that list with a review of VaultPress (now available through JetPack) , a premium backup service from WordPress parent company Automattic.
5 months ago I published an article about the Premium Back service from Automattic, the same company behind WordPress. Now, this service is part of the Jetpack WordPress plugin .
I got the golden ticket to sign up for Vaultpress for $15/month (Basic), and I chose them considering the security measures. After all, prevention is always better than cure.
Signing up and starting to use VaultPress is easy.
But before I explain all of that, let me first give you an overview of Vaultpress. Vaultpress is an automated backup service for WordPress, created by the same people who created WordPress. It's more than just a WordPress backup system; it scans your files for any viruses, malware, and the VaultPress security team will make sure they're always there to help you if something goes wrong.
Jetpack Backup hands-on review
Jetpack (formerly known as VaultPress) is a complete backup solution for WordPress, it works with the help of a plugin that continuously backs up your WordPress, and when needed, you can restore your database or files from the Jetpack backup .
You can enable VaultPress by purchasing any Jetpack license from here .
Click on Personal License and get the annual plan. On the next page, enter your WordPress website URL and click Start Installation.
Once you’ve signed up and your payment has been processed, in your WordPress dashboard, go to Jetpack Settings > Security Module
Click "Setup" and within a few minutes, the backup function will be initialized.
Once the plan is activated, it will start uploading all the files to the backup server.
Vaultpress provides you with a dedicated dashboard at Dashboard.vaultpress.com which requires your WordPress.com account login to access.
As I write this, Vaultpress is uploading the images, and after that, it will upload (backup) plugins, themes, and database. VaultPress will backup your entire WordPress every hour, and if something goes wrong, you can always restore from the backup. Overall, I am happy because if something goes wrong with my blog, I have a backup. I cannot comment on Vaultpress support at the moment, but I will update you on my experience with Vaultpress in a while.
Especially, if you are one of those people who is not tech-savvy but looking forward to an automated WordPress backup solution with support, VaultPress is worth it.
