As I mentioned above, WP Super Cache is a simple plug-and-play plugin and you hardly need to configure anything.
I’ll show you my WP Super Cache configuration, and you can copy these settings and use them for your own site.
First, install the WP Super Cache plugin from your WP dashboard or from here. If you need help, check out our guide on how to add plugins to WordPress .
After installation, you need to turn on caching by going to Settings > WP Super Cache.
They offer a lot of features, but for a non-technical person this will get you started:
Simple > Cache On > Update Status
Advanced Options
- Cache hit counts for this site for faster access. (Recommended)
- Use Mod_rewrite to store cache files. (Recommended)
- Compress your pages to deliver content to your visitors faster. (Recommended)
- Cache rebuild. Serve super cache files to anonymous users while new files are being generated. (recommended)
- Mobile device support.
Click Update Options.
If you receive an error such as "Difference in mod_rewrite" or ".htaccess rules", under the Advanced tab, go to Mod Rewrites Rules and click Update mod_Rewrite Rules.
Once you have both tabs setup, it's time to check if Super Cache is serving cached files. Simply go to the * "Easy" tab and test the cache using the options under * "Cache tester" . If everything goes well, your Super Cache setup is complete.
